| | It was a dizzing mix of music and lights as U2 hit Hartford last night.
We had seats up in the nosebleed section and the steepness of the grade made Lori and I both think twice before rising to our feet to dance, sing and clap along with everyone in the place, but you get swept up in the flood and you just go where it takes you.
The song selection spanned much of their career, I particularly enjoyed the opening number "City of Blinding Lights." The light display was a piece of art, really neat to watch. The stage was equally impressive, with neon lights built in to create cool effects during different songs.
They tore the ceiling off the place with "Vertigo" and just kept going.
An interesting moment was when Bono pulled up a little boy during "Sunday Bloody Sunday" after talking about the sons of Abraham and the idea that all faiths can coexist. The boy sang with Bono "no more" and when Bono asked him his name he said, "Jacob." Bono was speechless for a moment and then just said, "Wow."
I can only imagine his mom and/or dad was having fits seeing their child sitting on the front of the stage with Bono, jaws dropped to the floor.
